1. Acceptance of terms
By downloading, installing, or using DreamPlayer ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree with them, do not use the App.
2. Description of service
DreamPlayer is a cross-platform video player application that plays video and audio files from your local device and from network sources you configure, including SMB shares, WebDAV, FTP/SFTP, Jellyfin and DLNA/UPnP servers. The App is free to download. Certain features are unlocked through an in-app purchase or subscription on iOS; on Android every feature is available at no cost.
The App is a media player only. It does not provide, license, or host any content, and it does not implement DRM for third-party streaming services.
3. In-app purchases and subscriptions
On iOS, the App offers the following premium options:
- Monthly — an auto-renewing subscription, billed monthly.
- Yearly — an auto-renewing subscription, billed annually.
- Lifetime — a one-time purchase for permanent access.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when the purchase is confirmed. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your Apple ID Account Settings, and cancelling stops renewal without refunding the current period.
Prices are set by Apple and may vary by region and currency. Any change to pricing applies to future renewals, not to a period you have already paid for.
On Android, all features are included at no charge and there is nothing to purchase, subscribe to, or unlock.
4. Free trial
The free trial never starts on its own. It does not begin when you install the App, when you open it for the first time, or when you reach the purchase screen. Nothing is timed, counted, or charged until you personally tap the “Start 7-day trial” button.
The trial starts only when, and only because, you do the following:
- You open the purchase screen yourself.
- You tap the button labelled “Start 7-day trial”.
- Only then does the seven-day clock begin.
Until you take that action, no trial is running. If you close the App, dismiss the purchase screen, or never tap the button, no trial has started and nothing has been charged.
Once started, the trial unlocks all premium features for seven days measured in elapsed wall-clock time from the moment you tapped the button. It is a single unlock rather than a per-playback allowance: it does not reset when you seek, pause, or return to the App later, and leaving the App does not pause or extend it.
The trial does not convert into a paid subscription. When the seven days end, the premium features return to their locked state unless you have separately purchased or subscribed. No charge is made automatically at the end of the trial, and no purchase is made on your behalf. To keep access after the trial, purchase a subscription or the lifetime option yourself.
Because the trial cannot begin without your button press, it cannot start and expire unnoticed. If you want to end it early, simply do not purchase.
Deleting and reinstalling the App does not restart the trial. The record of when you started it is kept in the system keychain, which outlives the App itself, so removing and reinstalling DreamPlayer will not give you a fresh seven days. On iOS that record is also synchronised through iCloud Keychain, so the trial you have already used follows you to a new device or a restored backup rather than beginning again. If iCloud Keychain is unavailable, the record is kept on the device instead, so it is never silently lost.
5. User responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Ensuring you have the legal right to view any content you play through the App. DreamPlayer does not verify or license your media.
- Maintaining the confidentiality of any credentials you use with the App, including server logins and third-party API keys.
- Using the App in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including those governing the copying and distribution of media.
6. Intellectual property
The App, including its design, code, and features, is owned by the developer and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. DreamPlayer is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0; where that licence grants rights to the source code, those terms apply. You may not otherwise copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer the App, except where such an action is permitted by law.
7. Third-party services
The App may connect to third-party services you choose to enable, such as TMDB or TheTVDB for metadata, OpenSubtitles for subtitle search, and your own media servers. Your use of those services is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their availability, content, or practices.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or compatible with every device, display, or file format.
High dynamic range and surround sound features depend on your display, receiver, and the source content. Device and panel capabilities vary.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, nor for any loss of data, media, or network availability.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. Continued use of the App after a change is posted constitutes acceptance of the new terms. Changes do not affect purchases or subscriptions made before they took effect.
